I'd understood that the 4th Gen Echo Dot was now capable as acting as an extender but I wonder if this feature has not been extended to UK? The Eero platform also emphasises ease of use, with a friendly smartphone app putting all network monitoring and management options quite literally at your fingertips.

A Wi-Fi booster or Wi-Fi extender is a device that repeats the wireless signal from your router (your Three Home Broadband hub) to expand its coverage.

Set-up was not as straightforward as some here, though still manageable using the WPS button on the front and the useful Tether app which guides you. eero Built-in is our newest technology that turns select Echo products into eero mesh wifi extenders. A mesh Wi-Fi network is a group of connectivity devices, such as Wi-Fi routers, that act as a single network. You’ll be guided through the simple setup process by the eero app which will tell you exactly where to place your eero devices for maximum Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home. Say goodbye to dead zones and buffering: eero uses TrueMesh technology to intelligently route traffic and reduce disconnections, so you can game, video conference and stream 4K content (where available) with confidence. Similarly, even though the Secure+ package includes a VPN service, VPN connections aren’t supported at the router level – you’ll have to install the software on each client you want to protect – and the router doesn’t integrate with Dynamic DNS services, either.

Profiles can then be assigned to any device, although each device can only have a single profile applied to it. A Wi-Fi booster or extender increases the wireless range of your current router, and means you can enjoy internet connectivity in the furthest reaches of your home. It’s good to have these options, but we’re not sure why they’re still stuck in beta – other routers have had full WPA3 support for more than two years now. The Eero Pro 6 will support gigabit speeds while the Eero 6 is only suited to connections up to 500Mbps.

If you live somewhere with walls that wifi finds hard to penetrate, then a powerline system like this can help. If you're ready for a speed upgrade, you should start with a base of either the Eero 6 or Eero Pro 6. Also check out eTeknix YouTube, where you'll find our latest video reviews, event coverage and features in 4K! Plus, with eero Secure provided as standard with Three, you can rest even easier, knowing your home’s online security will be stronger and more secure, for everyone connected to your home network. Eero promises us that this set-up is powerful enough to provide solid Wi-Fi coverage across 460 square metres (approximately 4950 square feet) of home space, while a single unit will cover around 140 square metres (1500 square feet).
